We have a dream...a big hurkin scary dream!!!
I can remember the exact location and moment when Lindsay shouted across the street, in the midst of our kid chaos, the idea that started it all. Born out of necessity (aka seriously grubby toddlers) she said "we need a bib that folds up that we can keep on our keychains!" Don't tell her, but I thought at the time, great idea "I'm sure someone will do it someday!"
You see, our brilliant dreams for big things actually started 6 years ago when as brand new, first time moms, we came up with this great idea to get make our own, sassy, boutique style bib line for non stop drooling babies...it was brilliant! Our first clue however that it would never work, should have been that neither one of us owned a sewing machine or even knew how to sew! But we forged on. Needless to say, our lack of business knowledge, our newborns and mostly our sewing skills (or lack there of) drove us to have to close the doors on "SawVae".
AAAAhhhh dreams....
Remember when you were a new parent you "knew it all"?? You had goals, direction, plans and you knew exactly what your child would be doing 10 years from now? Then crazy enough, and much to your dismay, Jr. doesn't act, do, or follow any of your "perfect plans"? Well, Earth Monkeys is that child. We've had moments when we pretty much knew where we were going to be in 10 years, and we had a clear path to get there. We had our dreams written out, our goals defined, and the hutzpah (love that word!) to make it all come together! Funny how dreams change! Somedays we are amazed at what these two simple, busy, completely slightly crazy moms have accomplished with out even a real college degree between us.. and somedays we feel buried in what we still need to do! The one thing that never waivers though, is the love we have for the connection we have made with all of you. YOU make us feel sane, YOU make us feel like we will survive this thing called mother hood, and YOU remind us that we are not alone. We never dreamed that we could become this passionate about wanting to see other women succeed, to grow and to come together! We want to see your dreams come true, just like we want our dreams to come true with Earth Monkeys. We adore getting to "hang" with all of you, we soak it all in and love it all! Anyway, We are talking about dreams here...
Earth Monkeys as a company has grown, and we thank every customer that supports us, and every mom that uses our products and tells your friends about us! This last year has been a year of growth as a company, but more importantly, growth personally! We are in the production stages of our next 3 products and the new direction that we are taking EM feels like a 180 degree turn. But we are stoked, we are excited to give other moms a chance to jump on board this crazy ride with us...but that is all we can say (for now anyway). It's a dream, a big hurkin scary dream...we can't wait to tell you what is next for us, but if we told you everything, then you wouldn't have anything to lose sleep over! (bwahahahah).

Now lets fast forward to 1 year ago when Earth Monkeys was born.
There we were, slightly smarter, wiser, driven and slightly more exhausted with 5 kids total! But we forged on! Every day, our dreams (and gallons of coffee) propelled us to work hard, pray hard, and dream big, no, dream huge!!!Remember when you were a new parent you "knew it all"?? You might be an EMM mom if...
It's time once again to make you feel better about yourself as mothers! We do our best to corrupt you with our true sometimes icky confessions so you won't feel like you have to
YOU MIGHT BE AN EARH MONKEY MOM IF...
- Your sink is not only full of dishes, but also a ball, a toy car and color crayons...
- You think you brushed your teeth this morning...wait, was that yesterday?
- You can't remember your name, but your pretty sure it's not , mommy, mommy, MOMMY!!!
- Every time you reach into a pocket it contains a used snotty tissue.
- Your idea of exercise is showering with a toddler on your hip.
- Your favorite extra curricular activity is sleep!
- Your favorite accessory is a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.
- You consider going to the grocery store alone better than a day at the spa!
- The artwork on your wall looks like a 5 year old did it; wait, a 5 year old did do it!
- You don't remember the color of your fridge, carpet or couch and we don't have to explain why...
- You have a sign in your entry that reads "I cleaned my house 5 minutes ago; sorry you missed it!"
- You pick out your outfit for the day from what's laying on the ground beside your bed and you may or may not have had to scrap the kid crusties off before wearing it...
- You have to use a spatula to scrape your counters off before you can wipe them down.
- You've ben wearing the same toenail polish since October and just keeping painting layers over the chips.
- Not even Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and fingernail polish remover can get the permanent marker of your wall and fridge.
- You know what a "mommy tuck" is. (See this link if you are skinny and don't know what that means like flippen Gena!)
- You've ever said, "Ugghh!! Who just pooped on the floor?"
- You and your kids have had a "pajama day" for two or more days in a row.
- You've re-worn the same make-up two days in a row... (Don't judge me...)
- You're car smells like McDonald's French Fries and spoiled milk.
- You've ever found an older dirty diaper in your purse, trunk or dirty clothes hamper.
- When you clean your house your family asks "Why?" or "Is someone is coming over?"
- You're husband has to ask you to "please shave your legs."
- Your children ask when you are going to be "nice mommy again"
- And Finally YOU MIGHT BE AN EARTH MONKEY MOM if your child has ever yelled the unsavory word/phrase in public that you said in the car right before you took them into a very busy store... (you'd think I'd learn after 2 or 3 times... noop)
This is just the start of our list... if you have others to share, post them here or on our Earth Monkeys Facebook Page!! And don't forget we still want to hear your about when you lost your MOTY (Mother Of THE YEAR) Award... you could win a thousand dollars... ahahahah yea right... but you will get a pretty sweet set of our Earth Monkeys Baby/Toddler accessories:):)

My First Mission…
We have become what I call modern day hippies…We grocery shop in heels but never use disposable grocery bags! (OK so never might be a little extreme…but we’re trying…so if the paparazzi catch us with plastic bags - don’t judge:) Our pantries have been stripped down to organic minimums, but we will never stop fussing over our hair!
This is why we are so excited about Earth Monkey Moms. We are modern day moms surrounded by the temptation of “ease”, but what we continue to strive for are more ways that we can ban together and easily take small steps in protecting the beautiful planet God created for us, and the amazing people He gave us to care for.
We are excited to be releasing a new discussion every Friday along with fun posts on Monday and Wednesday that will make you laugh, cry and hopefully challenge us all. The topics will have a huge range…from easy mom hair, to moms of special needs children. You will hear from experts in fashion to real estate (FYI…we’re not the experts, cause mama can’t know everything:)) The common theme is that WE will be challenged to grow by learning from other moms just like US!
Soon, we will introduce you to some exciting products you will come to love from Earth Monkeys. They are all geared to making your life as a mom simpler and also will help us all do our part to care for the environment. We can’t tell you any more yet or we will have to tie you up and carry you around in the back of our cars, and frankly between the stroller, the clothing, the shopping bags and whatever is making that awful smell, there just isn’t room. And honestly if we had to listen to one more person yelling, I’m sure we’d go crazy! We are sooo excited so stay tuned!!!
So this week I want us to be more aware….Let’s think about everything we eat …everything we feed our kids. Think about how much we are moving, how much time we’re spending with our kids … doing what they want to do. (Not just feeding them goldfish crackers to keep them busy or shoving them in front of a movie so we can write blogs…woops we have a long way to go on that one:))

We need to think about what we are thinking about. I want to challenge you to take a few minutes (in between poopie diapers, homework and fixing another pbj) to think about what is important. We as moms lose ourselves in the monotony of our daily schedules and checklists…Let’s start this week to be more aware and begin to takes positive steps toward change! No I’m not running for office…just want to start the week off with a challenge because Lord knows by Wednesday I’ll have forgotten it all.
Please feel free to leave a comment or even write your own post to share with EMM readers! There are buttons on the sidebar to the right for you to submit comments/posts and even to ask questions. We want to hear from you…
